Connecticut's New Haven Line is one of the busiest railroads in North America, serving 40 million people annually. It's an economic engine for the state, and a fast-moving economy demands a fast-moving train system.
Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) recently completed the first ever comprehensive analysis of the New Haven Line to determine what can be done now to speed-up service. The result is a robust investment program of $8-10 billion over 15 years across all six state rail lines focused on three key pillars: service, infrastructure, and fleet. This ambitious, practicable plan will not only provide for faster service in the short-term (as soon as 2022) but also lay the groundwork for additional travel time savings, ultimately reducing trips times by as much as 25 minutes for CTrail, Metro-North, and Amtrak.
The hard work of preparing a rail plan is now done. All that is needed is funding and your support. Now is the time for action.
